Marluxia's Scythe Cosplay Prop

It's finally done! I actually finished it... Thursday night? With the help of my dad, of course. The thing was my design, but he helped to make it work.

Let's seeee... So this is Marluxia's scythe from Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. It's about.... I dunno... 6 feet tall? It's the first cosplay prop I've ever made!

The blade is made of 2 layers of foamboard (though the pink/yellow/white cross area is four ply) that I cut out with an x-acto knife and painted with craft paint . There is a brace made of tin hotglued onto the bottom of the scythe and a piece of metal that extends into the handle for support. The metal brace is siliconed into the PVC pipe that makes up the handle. To get the bend in the handle, I put the PVC between two brick pillars on my backyard porch for a month. I then spraypainted it green. The decorations on the handle are made of craft foam.

Overall, it cost me about 35 dollars and about 15 hours of work between my dad and I to make.

Anyway, I'll have pictures of my full Marluxia costume and my Xigbar costume after Halloween.
